The Stability of Dense Oceanic Crust Near the Core-Mantle Boundary: dataset
Contains output from geodynamic simulations run for article titled 'The stability of dense oceanic crust near the core-mantle boundary'.
The .comp NetCDF files contain the mantle Velocity, Temperature and Composition field at the end of the simualtion (and lat,lon,depth). Note that composition is given in terms of lherzolite fraction and basalt fraction. Harzburgite fraction is given by:
harz_frac= 1 - basalt_frac - lherz_frac
Because C_harz=0, C_lherz=0.25, C_basalt=1.0, the overall C value at a point is given by
0.25*lherz_frac + 1*basalt_frac
The .seis NetCDF files contain the predicted Vs, Vp, Vs_anelastic, Vp_anelastic, V_bulk, Density, Temperature and composition field. Note that the temperature field in these files includes an artificial adiabat which is added on due to these simulations being incompressible.
Paraview viualisation files are included for the temperature and composition field at the end of the simulations.
