Study of nano-second laser micro machining of commercially pure titanium

This is the complete data set for a simulation and experimental study on the nano-second laser micro machining of commercially pure titanium (cpTi). It comprises a number of related data sub-sets. Comparison between predicted and measured depths and diameters of single craters for different fluence values for a 140 ns pulse. Theoretical temperature variations for a 140 ns pulse at fluence values between 9.4 J.cm-2 and 43.7 J.cm-2. The temporal temperature variations around 14 J.cm-2 for pulse durations of 140 ns, 85 ns and 25 ns. Spatial temperature evolutions on the top surface of titanium for a fluence of 14 J.cm-2 and for pulse durations of 140 ns and 25 ns. Measured crater depths and diameters for pulse durations of 25 ns, 85 ns, 140 ns and 220 ns and fluence values between 10 J.cm-2 and 70 J.cm-2. Maximum surface temperatures and the associated Scanning Electron Micrographs of craters irradiated with fluence values of 14 J.cm-2, 25 J.cm-2 and 44 J.cm-2. Surface roughness and machining efficiency during laser milling at various fluence values for pulse durations of 140 ns and 220 ns. Temporal temperature evolution at a fixed crater location during laser milling operations at a fluence of 14 J.cm-2 for the pulse durations of 140 ns and 220 ns. In addition, the following Scanning Electron Micrographs are also included in the data set: SEM images of single pulse craters machined at 140 ns; SEM micrographs of single craters machined in the cpTi specimens at varying fluence values for pulse durations of 25 ns, 85 ns, 140 ns and 220 ns.
